North India, with more than 650 species of birds, is a
paradise for birders and ornithologists with habitats like wetlands, jheels, hill forests, dry scrub,
desert, rivers, irrigation canals and farmland. Harike Wetland (Punjab),
Nanda Devi National Park (Uttaranchal),
Sultanpur Bird Sanctuary & National Park in Gurgaon,
Bhindawas Bird Sanctuary (Jhajjar),
Dachigam Wildlife Sanctuary (J & K),
Kalesar forest (Yamunanagar), Berwala Bird Sanctuary and Morni hills in
Panchkula district (Haryana), and the Yamuna river are the main areas where most of these birds can
be found. The Keoladeo Bird Sanctuary in Bharatpur, Rajasthan is another excellent site for
bird watching in the neighborhood. In addition, almost all of the cultivated land has some species of birds. The
