Yellow-wattled Lapwing (Vanellus malarbaricus) is a scarce, very local, breeding resident in Haryana. This bird is found in the dry plains.

Identification: These shy birds are slightly smaller than Red-wattled Lapwings, with proportionately longer legs. They have fawn breast and upper parts. A narrow black breast band separates the white belly. The crown is black in adults (fawn in the juveniles) and surrounded by a white line. Legs are yellow and the yellow wattles, bright and easily visible. The flight pattern is similar to the Red-wattled Lapwing, with black tail and flight feathers and white rump and wing bar. It can be found in dry open scrub areas near urban and semi-urban spaces.
