Yellow Bittern

Yellow Bittern (Ixobrychus sinensis) is a local breeding summer visitor in Haryana. This bird is found in the wetlands.   Identification: The upper-parts of this bird are yellowish-brown with paler underparts. The bill is yellow and legs are greenish-yellow. The male has a black cap and plain back while the female lacks the black cap and has buff stripes on underparts.

Order: CICONIIFORMES   Family: Ardeidae   Size: 38 cm   Food: Small fish, frogs and invertebrates
