White Stork

White Stork (Ciconia ciconia) is a rare passage migrant in Haryana. This bird is found in open areas and near wetlands.   Identification: Long-legged, long-necked bird, white except for black wings. Large pointed red bill & red legs. Sexes alike.  Habits: Keeps in pairs or small parties near wetlands. Winter visitor to whole of India north of Deccan. In spring, these birds collect in large flocks at staging points for their northward migration.
