Rufous-winged Lark - photograph by Ron Saldino Also called Bengal Bush Lark, its scientific name is Mirafra assamica. This bird is a scarce resident, found near cultivation and grasslands of Haryana. Called Aggia or Aggin in Hindi, it prefers open country. This sparrow sized bird is very difficult to distinguish in field from Indian Lark or Red winged Bush Lark. The parents give the 'broken wing' display for distraction if their nest is disturbed. Order: PASSERIFORMES Family: Alaudidae |
