Eurasian Curlew (Numenius arquata) is a scarce passage migrant found in the wetlands of Haryana,
India.
Size: 57 cm Order: CICONIIFORMES Family: Tringinae Local Name: Bada Gulinda or Goar.
Identification: Sexes alike. An unmistakable wader, with long slender and strongly down-curved, dark brown bill and bluish gray legs; plumage brown and
buff. The bill is almost 6 inches long.
Habitat: Found on large lakes and mudflats. Keeps singly or in small flocks. It start arriving in
North India by October and departs by April. Scarce
winter migrant to whole of India.
