Eurasian Black Bird

Eurasian Blackbird (Turdus merula) is a scarce winter visitor in Haryana, India. This bird is found in the hill forests.

Order: PASSERIFORMES   Family: Muscicapidae   Size: 25 cm   Weight: 90-120 gm   Wingspan: 35-38 cm

Identification: A medium-sized, longish tailed, thrush. This bird is in a mainly dark plumage. Black in male, and dark rufous-brown in female. Identifying features are yellow bill in male, pale throat in female.

Food: Ground worms, fruits, seeds. Feeds largely on ground.
