Scientific name is Gallinula cloropus, also called the Indian Moorhen. This partridge sized bird is a locally common breeding resident found in the wetlands of Haryana. Locally called Jal Murghi or Jal Murgi, it is a slate gray and brown bird with white under tail coverts. Size is about 13 inches with green large feet and legs.
