Indian Nightjar (Caprimulgus asiaticus) is a scarce resident in Haryana. This bird is found in open country and wooded areas.   Local Name: Chapka    Order: STRIGIFORMES   Family: Caprimulgidae   Size: 25 cm   Food: Beetles, moth, insects

Identification: Sexes alike. A crepuscular and nocturnal bird, soft plumaged, mottled grey-brown, buff and fulvous. Black streaked above with a complicated camouflaged pattern. White patches on wings. Rests on the ground in day.
